Whispers Amongst The Corn

The idea for this site came about after I moved from a semi-rural existence in a town that was rapidly becoming a city – green fields swallowed up by ever rapacious construction – to a farmstead, set amongst cornfields. With half a mile of corn as high as an elephant’s eye separating me from my neighbours (in any direction), the tranquility of my new surroundings was almost overwhelming. As I acclimatized to my new home, I noticed that a light breeze would often rustle through the corn, causing the densely-packed leaves to rub together. In the otherwise silent surroundings, this would often sound like muffled whispers, as if perhaps some curious creatures were hiding amongst the corn, looking, watching, and whispering. I would often sit for a while, just listening to the sound, and I noticed that the more I listened, the more voice-like it became.

In turn, this started me thinking about how stories come to be told. Many of the stories that we know today have been handed down through the generations, originating as whispers and embellished with each retelling. And so, Whispers Amongst The Corn was born.

Amongst these pages, you will find Twisted Tales – stories to chill the spine and make you think twice about the dark – everyday happenings and opinions on my Blog. This is my first ever website, and so I am sure both it and I will evolve together. I certainly intend to add more interesting tidbits as time goes by. In the meantime, have a look around and see what takes your fancy. If, like me, you find yourself increasingly pushed for time, why not subscribe to have new material delivered directly to your inbox. Life travels apace, and I’d hate you to miss out on the new whispers amongst the corn.

I love the way you describe the corn. I can just picture it, and hear the whispers!

Hmm…that’s strange. I’ve had other people follow me, so I’m guessing there’s a button there. I’ll check it out though. I’ll check my followers list too and see if you’re on there. <3

Hi again, I think I fixed the problem. If you scroll down to the bottom of the homepage, you should see a link saying “Follow whsipersamongstthecorn.com” I hope that works. Let me know if it doesn’t. Thanks again. <3
